Role Guides
CIVITAS/CORE uses a role-based model to manage responsibilities and access within the Platform.
Each role represents a specific set of permissions and typical tasks, such as administering the Platform, managing, reviewing, or defining data-related elements, or consuming available data.
The Platform provides a set of predefined standard rolesStandard rolesA predefined set of roles that can be used immediately when starting with the Platform. They are designed according to data governance principles and cover common responsibilities. that can be used as a starting point and reflect common responsibilities based on data governance principles.
The following guides explain how each role interacts with the Platform and which workflows are typically performed.
- Tenant Admin – manages tenantTenantAn isolated organizational partition that owns Data pools, Datasets, Users, Groups, and Roles. All access rules exist within their Tenant, and the Tenant is the widest Scope of a Role. Currently, one Tenant corresponds to the Platform. settings, users, groups and roles
- Data Architect – designs Data structures and Data sourcesData sourceA data-related element that represents the origin of data. It defines how data is connected, accessed, and ingested into the Platform, such as an external database or sensor network.
- Data Steward – designs DatasetsDatasetA data-related element that contains processed data and makes it available for consumption. A Dataset is populated via Pipelines and carries Metadata and access permissions. and manage Base information
- Data Consumer – discovers and uses available DatasetsDatasetA data-related element that contains processed data and makes it available for consumption. A Dataset is populated via Pipelines and carries Metadata and access permissions.
