Local Development

Prerequisites: Java 25, Maven 3.9+, Node.js 20+ for docs/types, and Docker for PostgreSQL integration tests.

Java Build

Run the Maven commands below from the model-forge/ subdirectory of the mono-repo (this is also what CI does — cd model-forge before invoking Maven).

mvn test
mvn verify

Target a single module while iterating:

mvn -pl model-forge-runtime -am test
mvn -pl model-forge-spring-boot-starter -am test

Registry integration tests use Testcontainers PostgreSQL and run as part of the module tests when Docker is available.

TypeScript Types

The TypeScript and Zod types are not built here. portal-frontend generates them from the CORE JSON Schemas:

cd portal-frontend
npm run generate:core-types

The generator is portal-frontend/scripts/generate-core-types.mjs. It reads the schemas from model-forge/model-forge-runtime/src/main/resources — those are the single source of truth — and writes the modules to portal-frontend/src/generated/core/.
